Marriage of the Absurd Collection
ASSIGNMENT: Given three random pieces of inspiration, (artist, place, and time period), marry them together into a cohesive collection.

Artist: Louise Nevelson
Inspiration taken: My favorite aspect of Nevelson's work was the beautiful organic cubist layouts of some of her sculptures. I decided to use a similar abstracted grid look for the print I created for the garments. I really loved the stark contrast between the sharp white lines and the organic feel of the landscape photos.

Place: New Zealand
Inspiration Taken: Out of the three pieces of inspiration I was definitely the most excited for New Zealand. I used pictures of the natural landscapes in New Zealand and created a print to be digitally printed onto fabric for my designs. The idea of the print was to focus on the idea of 'the land meeting the sea', one of the aspects that makes New Zealand such an incredible region.

Time Period: The 1970's
Inspiration Taken: There is so much to love about the 1970's time period I had a hard time deciding which way I wanted to incorporate it into my designs. Instead of taking a more literal route I decided to use the text styling used on packaging for the era. That's where some of the bubble letters and funky fonts come into play, giving it a much more lighthearted sporty feel.
